messages keep saying "Messages stopped, force close"

I've had my Samsung s20 plus for 3 days now but everytime i text and go into messages it comes up messages has stopped force closed? I'm baffled as all updates are done and settings are correct, does anyone know why this is happening?

try doing a factory reset and see its the same issue before you take it back to them as they will tell you to do the same thing

I'd restart the fone using the combo hold buttons down.into .bla bla and clear the cache

Wipe cache partition

Turn off the device.Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.When the Android logo displays, release both keys.An 'Installing system update' message may show briefly before the Android Recovery menu options appear.Press the Volume down key several times to highlight Wipe cache partition.
