Hi, I've searched forums/google as much as I can but no luck. I installed the Google Messages app (app icon has 3 horizontal lines in a speech bubble) but my phone keeps resetting the default message service to the Samsung app (app icon is 3 dots in a speech bubble). This happens almost daily and means I miss text messages. I'd prefer to stick with the Google version.
I've tried uninstalling and clearing the cache but no luck.

Hi,
Thank you for replying. The problem is I have to do what you said every day! I'll set Google as default, restart then have to do it again the next day.

I was able to change the default sms app after changing to a different default keyboard app (Microsoft swiftkey)
Must be that the default Samsung keyboard is forced only to work with the samsung messages.

I noticed that when my phone goes into power saving mode, Samsung Messages appears on the screen, along with my preferred text app, and that is when I have the same problem of Samsung's junk taking over. It is garbage like this, plus the fact they want to charge more but give you less freedom to have what you want on your phone, which is making me look to Samsung's competition! Either let me disable this app or keep it from trying to become my default text app evertyt night!
