Message "Cant find an application to open this type of file"

Hi can anyone help with the above error message?

All of a sudden whenever I try to download pictures eg from a wetransfer file on my Samsung S20 ultra I now get this message?

It used to work ok, but now I cannot download any pictures?

I am having to send the same wetransfer file to my samsung tablet then send the pictures to my phone via bluetooth! What has happened do you think?

Possibly it's incompatible with Android 11. Please explain what you are trying to do?

OK, please try settings, apps and select photos and set as default.

Hi I did this, its not giving me an option to set as default, there is nothing to select or click?

hello @Simone824 

the gallery app was disassociated with photos file extensions like jpeg, jpg, etc.,

to return this, 

-set Gallery as default app

Settings → Apps → tap 3 dots → Default app → Default app selection

-reset the app preference

Settings → Apps → tap 3 dots → Reset app preferences

-restart the phone

that should fix it 😀

Thank you for this advise but it doesnt work. When I click the 3 dots I do not have the options you have stated in your comment. Please see screenshot of my options. No matter what I press whenever I try to download pics again it says cant find programme to open this type of file

download pics eg if they are sent to me via email or dropbox/wetransfer
