I currently have a car without bluetooth audio capabilities (2012 Mazda) it has a USB port that works when playing audio from my iPhone XS max. My controls on my steering wheel work and song names show on my stereo screen as well when my iPhone is connected and playing music from Spotify.
I recently purchased a google pixel 4 android phone and it did not work at all when connecting via USB. It charged but no audio functionality at all. I tried the AUX function but it was very very poor sound quality and just a headache as it didn't charge either etc.
I am wondering how the s20 works when connecting to car audio via USB connection and does it work? has anyone had any issues?
if it works how did you do it and what tech are you using?
Judging by the android experience i had from google i think it might be similar with Samsung, and i don't want to get stuck with a phone that doesn't play music in my car after paying $$$. Iphone seems to be completely fine in my car via USB, you'd think it wouldn't be an issue for Samsung....
Hoping to gauge wether this is worth taking the risk and buying one and feel confident it will work in my car before i purchase...

On my old Nexus 5 and on every Android phone I've always set up Developer Mode in Settings, and switch on USB Debugging, which when plugged into a USB port allows you to select options for file transfer etc. Always worked for me. Haven't set up my S20 yet, but when I get a chance I'll try it in the car.

Yes please do let me know how you go!
I tried adjusting all those settings with my Google phone and still didn’t work when playing music via USB in the car.
please let me know if you find a solution!

If you go to SETTINGS>ABOUT PHONE>SOFTWARE INFORMATION and keep tapping on BUILD NUMBER you will get a popup stating DEVELOPER MODE enabled. Come back out of settings, then back in, and at the bottom of the screen is DEVELOPER OPTIONS. Open this and you'll find the option to turn on USB DEBUGGING.
Be careful what you do in DEVELOPER OPTIONS, you can mess up your phone if you don't know what you are doing.

You can buy an audio adapter from best buy or Walmart! Their cheap too. You hook one side in the charging slot on your phone and the other side to the aux cord!
