Numerous members have reported the same issue, but there is no solution as yet. I have turned it off in Settings since it's use is a nightmare!!!!!

What is the setting doing exactly to your phone @gobabs  ?

I can see some others have had different problems which ja thought to be software based.

i.e

https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s20-series/accidental-touch-protection-problem.

May I assume you've also sent feedback via your Samsung Members App.

If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care.  😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

When set on Accidental Touch Protection, the phone chooses to go off. You become desperate trying to turn it on again. After several times of pressing the volume & side button it comes on. To prevent it happening again I found it best to turn it off through Settings. But quite recently I experienced a black screen, despite the Accidental touch setting being off. So desperation had me doing pressing the same buttons mentioned earlier. I do wonder when such a defect would be rectified!!! Help!!!!

With it set to "on" on my s22 ultra, and the phone in my pocket , it often doesn't work whilst I'm walking.
