Whatsapp Notifications dont wake up the screen and or use edge lighting

New to Android and Samsung in general. My device s10e.

I seem to have very unreliable notification behavior . Namely:

1. Notifications on WhatsApp do not trigger edge lighting notifications. They just make a sound.

2. They only time that Whatsapp used edge lighting is when the screen is on. If the screen is off then the app doesn't trigger the edge lighting notification.

The problem has a semi fix where i have to enable popup notifications. Then WhatsApp uses edge lighting both in off and on screen. 

However then I get that intrusive "in your face" notification once I open the screen. The one where it takes over the screen and wont go away untill you close it. Basically preventing me to see other notifications. 

Help? I tried everything I can think of.

Go to play store and get glimpse notification , you can have edge lighting for any app you like

I was hoping to not resort to 3rd party applications just yet. Especially for a thing that is obviously featured in the os to begin with. I also have another thread where I cant seem to set certain applications to use only wifi and never data. But reading thru internet makes me feel like another need to download something from a 3rd party to fix something that should be integrated in to the os to begin with.

So far not too crazy about this Android os. Or at least Samsungs version. Since most stuff you need to find outside solutions to.

Saying this because my brother has Note9 and doesn't have this WhatsApp problem and doesnt use any 3rd party app to make edge function.
Was hoping for some inhouse solutions

it beats being frustrated and not having other solutions.

I understand. I will remember the app. Thank god its not that big of a bother. Just annoying. I will try to see some in house solutions. Because like I said I have a brother who has the Note 9 and he has everything just fine. If all goes south I will download the app.

My s7 edge wouldn't work with every app for the edge lighting , it's no big deal to download glimpse and set up the apps you want in the app whitelist

Is the Whatsapp on Android 10 that doesn't has pop up notifications anymore. Probably your brother still in Android 9. The notifications was working when I was in 9 too.

Hi, I was wondering if you could solve the problem. I'm having the same problem as well and it really annoys me. I'm using Samsung A22. I hope you found the solution without a 3rd party application.
