I had mp3s that used to play with Samsung Music until about a week ago. They were from my SD card. Some mp3s work and some don't. The ones that don't say last modified 12/31/1969. What in the world is going on? How do I enable these files to play again, and why did these particular files change while others didn't? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

1) Is your SD still connected ? Check in Device Maintenance > Storage. If not, connect it. When in doubt, provide screenshot.

2) Do you see the files in the "My Files" app ?

3) Can you play the files using other music players, e.g. Google Music, PowerAmp or Neutron ?

Yes, my SD is still connected. I can see them in My Files, and Google Player will not play them. And this just started, so I'm not sure what happened recently to cause this. The first 2 songs are an example in the screenshot. Why in the world does it say 1969?

One possibility to explain this would be that the SD is broken. That wouldn't be that unusual. There are methods to try to rescue the data, but this is bothersome and/or expensive. The easiest and cheapest way would be to get a new SD. Do you have the data available on some other medium, pc, backup, cloud whatever ?

I believe I have it on the cloud, but I'll have to look for sure. But it only applies to some files on the SD card...not all. So why would that indicate the whole SD card is bad, if only certain files are acting stupid? I don't know why these particular files went wonky all of a sudden.

Storage deteriorates over time. Not all at once, but some, then some more etc. There's a certain redundancy built into filesystems, but that only always goes so far. It's not that unusual for a harddisk or SD-card to be a bit broken. But it might fast get worse, so you should hurry to make sure that you've got a backup. If not, create one with the data still available.
