S10e - Notifications on lock screen not going straight to app after unlock

Hello -- I've just upgraded from a Galaxy A5 to an S10e. 

On the A5, when I tapped a notification on the lock screen, it would take me straight to the app after unlock.  For example, if I tapped on a WhatsApp message notification on the lock screen, I would get directly to the actual WhatsApp message after unlock, in other words the Android unlock process opens the WhatsApp message automatically.

However,  on the S10e, this doesn't seem to work.  After I tap a notification and then unlock, I end up simply on the home screen, regardless which notification I tap on the lock screen. 

I've looked for a setting that might control this behaviour but can't find anything.  Does anyone know if it's possible to make the tap on lock screen notifications open the app after unlock?  If so, would you be able to post the solution?

Hello everyone, I found the problem! You need to "double-tap" the app notification on the lock screen in order to automatically open the app after unlock. I was doing a single tap (which worked on the A5 but not the S10e).
