When I managed (amazingly) to get a google assistant online chat on this exact issue, they were adamant that the well known problems with Google play services and its battery use and constant 'growing' and inability to manage data were not their problem, but that of the manufacturer of the phone!! There is too much buck passing here; someone in Samsung must know enough to give a proper answer that WORKS, as google obviously wont. Also I have noticed that, even when I stop auto-update apps in the galaxy store settings , mysteriously they start updating again - that is surely a samsung problem at least!
