HDR applied even when it's set to OFF

Hi there! I've been playing a bit with the wide angle camera today, and I notice a weird bug.

Whether I set the HDR to on or off, pictures always come out with a hdr look.

I take the picture, and if I immediately open it in the camera roll, I see it changing from normal to HDR, as if it  gets processed a couple of seconds after being shot. I tried to disable all the image enchantments but the result is the same, an hdr sky that I really do not like.

Only way to have a normal looking picture is to use pro mode, but you can't use it with the wide angle lens... anyone else noticed this issue?

I want to decide about if i use a feature or do not. This is the purpose of a switch. I can't believe they are unable the solve this extremely simple issue. It is just a switch: ON or OFF. What the heck is so complicated in it they can't fix it since the release of the phone - they had around one and half a year for this task!!! Moreover we don't talk about a budget phone but a flagship considering this period.

Galaxy S10e, Exynos variant here. The persistent HDR problem seems to be fixed in the August update. The camera still does a bit of post processing while stacking up the images, but its not *****ty HDR now. Check out the sky in these photos with HDR on/off. https://photos.app.goo.gl/7ekvEUdNRKHiRmM97

Note 10+ Snapdragon variant, August update, HDR still always on no matter what. So garbage.

Unfortunately i can confirm as well the issue is still unsolved. The "bit of post processing" means HDR is on as it's easily recognizable on final images. It's very easy to reproduce: take a shot of a (switched on) television in a dark room: on the preview you can see how the picture would be look like without HDR and take a look at the "post processed" final pict. I can't hope it will be fixed ever. Use a 3rd party camera app instead but of course they can't use all features of the phone (like slow and superslow motion video etc.). There is no more hope – i give up. It was my last Samsung phone I'm sure. 😕

Also unfortunately, if you choose to use a third party camera app, you lose the ability to switch between apertures of 1.5 and 2.4. which make a nice difference in overall sharpness.... especially in well lit areas. No more Samsung for me after this. Unless they get their sh.t together and learn how switches that go on and off mean.

Hi folks!
Which device would you recommend instead of Galaxy? I mean with similar camera module, but without unturnoffable HDR :face-with-tears-of-joy:

You can use the latest GCam from arnova. Works great, only issue is is you lose the ability to switch to aperture 2.4, you're at a constant 1.5...which isn't the best idea in bright daylight. Or, you can use the latest from urnyx05, then you have the ability to switch aperture from 1.5 to 2.4, but now you lose tap to focus. So basically just point the camera, let it focus, then shoot. Downsides everywhere. Take your pick.

I can recommend Manual Camera DSLR: it has the ability to use wide angle lens (f 2.2), got a pro mode as well. The interface should be a bit more polished, but the average performance for the price is pretty good considering all other app cannot handle wide angle lens.

That app costs $6. It doesn't do anything better than what GCam already does for free. Also, the image quality from GCam is far superior. Manual cam also doesn't allow switching between apertures.
