Galaxy S10 SeriesHi there! I've been playing a bit with the wide angle camera today, and I notice a weird bug.
Whether I set the HDR to on or off, pictures always come out with a hdr look.
I take the picture, and if I immediately open it in the camera roll, I see it changing from normal to HDR, as if it gets processed a couple of seconds after being shot. I tried to disable all the image enchantments but the result is the same, an hdr sky that I really do not like.
Only way to have a normal looking picture is to use pro mode, but you can't use it with the wide angle lens... anyone else noticed this issue?

Galaxy S10 SeriesI was so excited that with my S21 Ultra + 10x tele lens I could take amazing macro shots of flowers. Then I ended up with this photo that looked like it got fed through a Monet filter. I guess the AI had decided I wanted a painting, not a photograph.
One more comment: this was taken with sunlight directly hitting the bee/flower, so it shouldn't have been a problem of high ISO + excessive noise filtering.
I wish Samsung would enable a 'pro mode' for the zoom lens. Or maybe they can't enable it for us because they practically rely on the AI to fix underlying limitations.
The end result of this is I'm feeling less compelled to get the latest phones with 'fancy' camera tech, which is what's mainly driving my frequent upgrades. Or, I may not have to get it from Samsung.
PS. if you can't tell what's wrong with the photo, look at the bee and flowers. The bee is supposed to have wings, right? And the flower just... looks messed up. The shadows and folds get munged and it doesn't look right.

Galaxy S10 SeriesI've had pretty much every single Samsung flagship, usually the Note series. The S7 was for me the revolution in smartphone cameras with an amazing low light performance and on point HDR. When iPhones started with those super fake HDR and pink faces to show there's nothing blown out, Samsung decided to copy that and the result was just as drastic, at a point that in my Note 8 I was using the pro mode to tune down the excessively unnatural red the auto mode was creating for my chair, when I got it perfectly tuned and pressed the shutter, after opening the gallery it was there the super crazy strong red color. WTF??
The Note 10 got even worse, it was like painting the sky and foliage and even my face in selfies. I started finding a trick for natural photos, by doing bursts and selecting one picture, cause I realized the image stacking for HDR was not able to work so fast in a burst mode, but problems kept coming, so I decided to let go of Samsung once and for all, after having all flagships since the S2.
Now I'm a happy Huawei P30 pro user, which btw takes amazing pictures, with much more natural results, being the closest to the ones I get with my DSLR (good details, sharpness on point, natural depth of field due to big sensor, natural colors and if necessary the pro mode makes it even more natural, amazing macro with autofocused ultrawide and zoom with 5x periscope, features from 2 years ago that Samsung copied now in the S21 ultra.
Night mode?? Not necessary, Huawei makes high iso stacks that can pull light out of nowhere, something I bet some other brand can do, and with amazing details.
I get so impressed with this câmera at every single new shot that I'm considering accepting not having GMS services just to keep having a Huawei phone and câmera in my pocket. That defines how happy I am now.

Galaxy S10 Seriesmy workaround : this HDR processing is not applied in burst mode. I do not know the S10 but with the S20, you have to drag the shutter button and with practice you can easily take juste one picture.

Galaxy S10 SeriesOr you know, they could just turn it off when you set it to off in the settings. Even worse then the HDR is the shutter lag. Why is there shutter lag Samsung???? It's pathetic. Dumped my note 20 ultra and went back to my pixel 4xl. No shutter lag, photos are WAY nicer. People look like people, not friggin plastic dolls with all the smoothing happening in Samsung cameras. So utter garbage. Fix your ***** Samsung. Or lower your prices by $1000

Galaxy S10 SeriesIt seems that, with aprils 1st regular update, there was ultra wide angle mode added to PRO mode (S10).
Finally. Now it is much more usable in this mode, because in PHOTO mode wide angle was unusable and very ugly with HDR.
In most cases it looks very nice and natural. With darks and highlights. I'm very pleased with the look. I think I should disable software auto update not letting for Samsung to ruin it with future updates.

Galaxy S10 SeriesIt seems that the "always HDR" bug is back on the S21
