Galaxy S10 SeriesHi everyone,
Just got a samsung s10 after being apple foe ages
One thing i noticed was you can not seem to set texts and calls from priority people to make a sound while on silent
It works in DND mode but not when your set to silent or vibrate
How can i fix this? Is there a setting i am missing or an app that does it?
I have my phone on vibrate or silent a lot but i still don't want to miss messages and calls from certain people
Thank you

Galaxy S10 SeriesI have solved this issue to my own satisfaction with an automation app called Macrodroid, but I'm sure there are others that could do it equally well...I'm not familiar with Tasker but it's widely used and should have similar features.
Simply, you can set the app to monitor certain inputs and perform tasks. In this example you could tell it that even if the phone is on silent, a call from specific contacts should trigger a sound.
I set up mine to ring an alarm if a text message come in, from specific contacts, with the word 'emergency' in it. Very simple to do - you can even set additional constraints around the macros so that they only trigger at certain times.
These apps are free, very intuitive, and (almost) infinitely customisable.

Galaxy S10 SeriesSound good, not really solving it for me or in general.
I just finished my 2 weeks quarantine all calls from the police visiting me were from cell numbers, none contain "emergency" or such.
School calling, teacher calling from a number I'm not familiar with etc.
They will all not be covered by a manual set-up.
For me in general I like efficient apps that covers all, and not requiring more more adjustment and work from my side. I like that the company create something appropriate, I apricate it.
Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Galaxy S10 SeriesThank you 4MM for sharing this. Still it won't help me if I get an urgent call from non listed number like hospital, and yet I may get a trivial call from my mother while asleep.
Hope that Samsung will keep their promise!

Galaxy S10 SeriesForgive me...I don't understand your point.
You WANT the phone to ring for a non listed number but not from one of your contacts?
Sounds strange, but again, you can use Macrodroid.
It allows you to do clever things with incoming calls. For example you can select specific contacts and the phone will ring, or not ring as required.
...or, have a blanket setting as that calls from any one of your contacts does one thing, and an unlisted number does something different.
You can have it automatically switch these actions on or off based on time of day or day of the week. Whatever you want.
That's the flexibility of apps like this. As stated, I'm sure Macrodroid isn't the only one, but it's the one I use.

Galaxy S10 SeriesThe callers get a message to dial 1 only in emergency, or leave a message/call later. So simple.

Galaxy S10 SeriesHi all. We've had word back from the developers and, unfortunately, there is no way to change this. They have stated they cannot change the behaviours whilst in silent mode.
We do understand this isn't ideal, however, it does sound like the third-party app above may be an alternative solution.

Galaxy S10 SeriesWhen a third party app can offer such option then why the OEM developers can't? All we are asking for is literally an option that would allow some selected contact to ring even in silent mode.
If the devs can't make changes to Silent mode then how about introducing a new mode that would allow exceptions?
