Data loss bug - one ui 2.0 beta (s10+)

Hi,

I hit a bug while using one ui 2.0 beta 2 on my G975F (XEF csc).

My phone was acting up - statusbar was cut off in half, and the system UI was slow, altough in app performance was still normal. After a reboot, the unlock pin did not work.

It says wrong combination - and no, it is not wrong. Interesting enough, it did load the initial configuration on boot (as in it connected to my wifi and paired to my watch)

After more reboots, it doesn't even do that anymore - it boots up in airplane mode.

I was running october patch, updated via pc to beta 1, and later to beta 2.

Safe mode did not do the trick.

Wiping cache in recovery did not do the trick as well.

Interesting points:
- The lockscreen never kicked me out for failing a bunch of times, i could spam a wrong combination + ok without any problems,  i could keep doing it forever.

- It never changed the language or tile order (default is french, i was using english), so i assume some data  was still there.

I did a factory reset and all is normal. I also filled my phone 100% to check if there was a nand problem (well atleast on what i could test, which is the data partition) and i did not notice any issues.

(PS - I could not use my PIN to restore my phone during initial setup, i had to use my google account)

I understand i was on a beta, so its ok - everything was backed up - but i wanted to report it

Regards,

When a person is signed up to Beta I thought their was a communications channel dedicated to send bug reports back.

Possibly via the Samsung Members App  / Samsung + App ?

I appreciate you posting here about your experiences but this needs to also go the correct route back to the relevant Samsung Department @opssemnik

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²³ Ultra 512Gb in Phantom Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

How did you do the factory reset it you couldn't use the pin... Was it through Samsung switch?

No, holding both volumes + power button made the phone reboot. If i had it charging, instead of rebooting, it would go to the power off charging screen, then i could simply boot in recovery mode (vol up + bixby + power) and do a factory reset.

it asked for a google account afterwards, but otherwise all good.

Thanks TessM!

I am closing this topic - The issue happened again, so i took to a samsung center and they said i had a storage issue. They replaced my board in 2 hours under warranty and i was back home. So far no issues - and im running beta 2 again

Im adding something here, it seems actually a lot of other people are getting the same symptons:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/help/screen-lock-security-issue-g975f-q-beta-t3992757/page...

EDIT:
I see samsung has just released beta 3 as an emergencial update to fix this issue. Unfortunately i had to exchange my board, i assume my water resistance isnt the best now that the phone was opened, but its life
