Can't attach photo to text message

Hi.

I can't attach a picture to a text message using samsung default Messages app. The only options I get when pressing the + icon left of the input field is 'quick response' and 'shedule message'. I have had the option to attach an image before but I don't remember when the last time it worked. What I have tried so far:

- Restart phone

- Clear cache

- Look at permissions and allow all

- Tried adding a photo to the clipboard and then paste it in the text field, but the image was not selectable and grayed out.

- Activating safe mode, but same result.

- Tried sharing a picture from my gallery, but I have no option to choose the Messages app.

What could be wrong? Why does it seem the feature is not there at all. Any help appreciated.Screenshot_20200612-133928_Messages.jpg

Same issue here! I have the s9+. It takes about 5 minutes to attach a photo to my messages. What happened?

download the app "ooglegay essagesmay" and use it as your default. Remove the other icon. Problem solved.

Thanks for the reply. I almost gave it up, but not totally.I found something curious - "1 category deleted" in my message app setting as the below pic. I was wondering what has been deleted.

I contacted my local Samsung and Samsung Netherlands to ask why and to try rolling back my software update that was done automatically when I set up my device for first time. I should have stopped it as I usually did. Samsung officially does not support OS rolling back and it's firmly related to Google's policy. Actually mine is Netherlands edition and Samsung Netherlands said, MMS is not allowed in Netherlands. I searched some other countries' Samsung Communities and I found one in EU Samsung Community as below link. somebody says, "Most providers have stopped supporting MMS."

I wish I could roll back or it was updated next quarter's software update.

On my Samsung A51 there is not a '>' where it is expected to be according to guidance.

I also have problems attaching photos to messages.

I start being very unhappy about having upgraded to a new Samsung.

Just for the record: I have the exact same problem as the OP and my device is a Galaxy Note s20.

I've set messenger up to handle sms instead, and that seems to work.

After using Smart Switch to transfer everything from my old Note10+ to a new one I hit this same problem.
My solution was to go to photos and "share" a photo to a contact.  That allowed me to attach it to a MMS msg.  Behind the scenes it fixed what ever permissions needed to get fixed. Now I can once again attach photos to an SMS msg.
