NEW UPDATE SUCKS - RANDOMLY MAKES CALLS

I HATE this update. Besides ugly, childish and unprofessional, it is impossible to navigate AND it randomly calls the last person I texted. And its not just me.. My son has the galaxy 9 and same thing. I would hear him in the other room saying "dang it " cuz of the random dials  then I mistakenly update and.. Tada. I'm randomly calling people as well  THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED

I hate that I paid nearly $1,000 for  for a piece of ***** that doesn't work. Looks like it's time for a class action

To keep your phone from Dialing the last person that you sent a text to....

Settings > Advanced Features > Motions and Gestures > Direct Call.  Turn this OFF

To keep your phone from Dialing or activating features while in your pocket... 

Settings > Display > Accidental Touch protection and turn this  ON.

I have never turned the Direct call feature on.  EVER.  But after my update, this feature was turned on.  Simple check.  Make sure that it's off.  Check Both of them.  

I had problems with Direct call until I turned it OFF.  Haven't had a single dial since then.

Yes I'm having the same issue. Random calls to the last person I texted, my phone constantly overheats and dies, the battery life has become less and less with this update. I'm not happy I'm paying a grand for a phone that dies before 2pm after a full night charge and leaving the house at 8am.

Ok, since this is an old thread, I'll just cut and paste from 6 minths ago.  Have you tried this yet??

"Settings > Advanced Features > Motions and Gestures > Direct Call.  Turn this OFF!  From the descriptions... "Make a call by bringing your phone close to your ear. "  Or your pocket... or your chest... or your desk"

Considering I've already tried that I wouldnt be here asking on a 6 month old question. I've cleared my cache, restarted my device, changed the auto call setting. I'd rather not hard reset my phone. But it's more then just auto calling people, it's over heating on and off the charger, I have to charge my phone 3-5 times a day depending on how much I use it for school and work. I shouldnt have to do that on a device that cost as much as I'm paying. The warranty policy is bull*****. I switched from Apple to Samsung years ago and this device has honestly made me want to swap back. I'm disappointed.

In otherwords, Samsung could have released an update which addressed this issue years ago (I have an S8 which has always done this as well) by setting the default to off, but still have never bothered to do so.

thank you...thank you.   Samsung kept telling me to shut off accidental touch protection and if this didn't solve the issue I had a virus. 

BUT NO!  as soon as I turned off DIRECT CALL, voila. problem solved.  I can't thank you enough.  the worst has been texting someone and saying I can't call them right now AND THEN CALLING THEM WITHIN 10 SECONDS 😳

my phone was in my pocket and made the call drove me nuts thanks for the info
