Refresh Rate Stuck at 120Hz

Since you can now monitor the refresh rate via developer options, I have found the screen is always at 120hz even when not in use. As it's suppose to drop down when not in use.

Has anyone had this issue and know of a fix? I'm running dark mode and adaptive brightness. One UI 3

I've not come across where its been stick at 120hz adaptive refresh rate before @oli14 

Can you start via a soft reboot by turning your phone Off and On.

Then the next step if that does not resolve the issue is these generic troubleshooting tips.

1. Clear your phone's System Cache Files by turning your phone Off and then from a set series of button presses go into the phone's System Files and clear the cache. No information is lost this way. You may need to insert your headphones or hook upto a computer with your data cable to get to this menu on the phone. 

2. Put the phone in Safe Mode which disables your downloaded app's but let's your stock app's keep working. If the issues stop then this highlights a downloaded app as the possible issue. Come out of Safe Mode and start deleting your most recent downloaded app's one at a time until it stops.

Thanks for that I'll give it a go. Since then I have noticed when I'm in a light area with daylight etc it does switch from 120hz to 60 when not in use as it's supposed to. looks like when in a dark area it doesn't play ball, having to shine a torch on the screen near the proximity sensor to make the change 🤔

Certainly not something that you should have to do.

The adaptive refresh rate should change depending on what your doing on the phone in relation to surfing etc @oli14

I agree, it's in the evening say when in room just with TV on etc it doesn't switch, but soon as you turn on a light it starts switching again. Read across forums the Auto refresh rate changes via no usage and using the proximity sensor apparently.
