Note 20 Ultra Display brightness dimmed after few minutes

(Topic created on: 28-09-2020 06:21 AM)

I put the display brightness to the max when taking photos during the day. But after a few minutes I notice the display dims automatically to the point when Its difficult to see what's on the screen.

This not only happens outside. It also happens inside the airconditioned mall when I took photos.

I don't buy the phone just to have the screen brightness dimmed!  Its a very expensive phone and you doing this to me?

I regret getting Note 20 Ultra. My Note 8 is far better in this regard.

Samsung Mobile Chief Roh Tae-moon - DO SOMETHING? U ARE CUTTING FAR TOO MANY CORNERS!

Anyone care to share if this happens to your Note 20 or 20 Ultra? Any workaround please share?

All disabled. I even turned off the smart stay. And its in Optimised mode. It is the software that is doing it.

There are a lot of settings for this actually. If you haven't done so, go to display or lock screen settings, then you'll find screen timeout, secure screen lock and lock automatically. I hope this helps.

Screen timeout dont make the display to auto dim. Doesnt make any difference setting it at 1minute or 2 minutes.

Neither is Secure Screen Lock. When the screen is active ie when the app is on, the screen will not lock. It will lock only after the screen is turned off.

Why not you try it out :  Max out the brightness, open the camera app. After few minutes, the screen will auto decrease its brightness. Do this outside during the day and you will notice it

I'll try that and see if this make a difference, but actually the screen timeout and screen lock work for me. Maybe it's something with the battery settings in your case, try to play with the automated or adaptive battery optimization.

I have just run another test. Starting 1.48pm setting maximum brightness. The screen is bright and able to see whats on screen. Today is not sunny. Taken photos and did some editing. The phone got warm. The brightness auto dimmed at 2.30pm - this is despite the brightness Bar is still set a full max - The screen now is not as bright as before and unable to continue doing stuff on the phone.

By the way what is your settings like for screen timeout and screen lock?

If it's clearly not a settings thing and you are sure that you did what you can, then you must contact Samsung to help you or even get a replacement or fix.

Just want to find out if this happens to all note 20 - if yes then it is the software that is doing this to avoid overheating. I am waiting for samsung reply on this. See what their response is.
