Note 20 Ultra camera concerns and battery

Ok, so I got an issue with my brand new Note 20 Ultra, and I would really appreciate some feedback on it.  For starters, there's a visible gap on my main camera lens on the top right. I’ve seen the reports regarding the dust and the fog and i am seriously worried.  Secondly, my telephoto lens moves by just flipping my wrist with the phone in my hands, from front to back and vice versa making a noticeable noise as it takes some time for the lens to fall back into its normal position.

The battery drainage is bad even when the phone is not in use.  I mean, paying 1349 euros for a phone that feels like a flimsy plastic toy you get for a child is unacceptable! I’m currently trying to return mine.

@R2K

1. Check yours against a working demo model in a shop. I can't check mine for you as I've sent it back.

2. That's normal for the camera. It's a working part of the camera .

3. The phone first goes into learning mode and then optimisation begins.

May i suggest...

Use Dark Mode.

Put apps to sleep or deep sleep.

Use Bixby Routines to help with battery.

Use optimisation in Device care and battery.

There are more tips via the forum here and in YouTube videos.

The phone gets better through usage.

A person with a Snapdragon chipset powered phone may get better battery stats.

Not trying to sabotage this post, but why have you sent your Note 20 Ultra back ? 😯
If you've already written about this on here, I may have missed it, sorry.
I'm still hanging on to my Note 10+ 5G , because I have mixed feelings about the upgrade.

Hi @MadalinK

Yes I have a thread I created about my initial thoughts.

Samsung-note-20-ultra-my-initial-thought's

My unit appeared to lose network signal connectivity in places I know are fine.

I'm not a phone engineer in any shape or form so I decided after several self help troubleshooting procedures to send the phone back within the 28 day cooling off period.

The N20 Ultra is an incremental upgrade from the N20+ 5G.

It depends if your drawn to the camera specs, better s pen function and adaptive refresh rate.

I said that I’m trying to return it as I am not happy with the device performance and quality for the amount of money that I paid for it. I already contacted Samsung directly but haven’t heard anything back yet. Plus, I thought that this is the purpose of a community like this one, to exchange information and share solutions if any available.

Thanks for the reply.
I am not 100% sure the overall camera system is an upgrade compared to my N10+ . Sure, the main one received a major change, but otherwise I keep reading about lens flaring, problems with the autofocus, poor HDR, only 12MP for the ultrawide instead of my current 16MP, no dual aperture anymore, no ToF sensor anymore, etc. Not to mention the horrible battery life most of the users seem to be having.
Of course, these are my own thoughts, I am not at all judging the new Note 20 series.
This is the first time since the Note 3 that I won't be upgrading early, like I used to.

My biggest concern is the ridiculous amount of bokeh processing the Ultra does. This completely makes the camera useless if you often take macro shots as the software makes most of the object  in focus blurred. Actually worse, it is completely smeared. Really bad that a very capable camera is pretty much destroyed by unnecessary and bad programming.

Samsung, please gives us the raw power of the camera!

And to add more to the party, of course I immediately switched off all Samsung smarts (with adb) like Bixby.  Also switched off HDR in the camera but every time I take a shot it suggests to switch on HDR to 'fix' lighting. Well, I don't like too much fixing.

How  does one get rid of this stupid notification?
