I am missing Android Beam

I wish Samsung/Android could bring back Android Beam. I was able to easily share with someone next to me  for example a YouTube video I will be watching and would like them to see it too.

By simply touching the back of our phones together and tapping on the screen the sharing was complete.

Nearby Share and Quick Share are good for transferring data across but they don't have the Android Beam functionality described above.

Oh wow, did they really get rid of Beam? I've been using it for so many years, I can't believe it 😲

Yes imagine! It's gone since the UI 3.0 update. It has been replaced with tags. I know "scanning" tags can be useful in some scenario but if it was possible to have a  toggle switch  between tags and traditional android beam then consumers can have a choice of what they want to use the NFC functionality for.

That's sad 😕 I used it quite often, and I loved the shocked faces of crApple users when I showed it to them..

@RealBiggazz: I'm not sure about YouTube videos, however you may still be able to access Android Beam via the Share option in the Gallery app. To check, open the Gallery > Select a photo or Video > Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen > Android Beam. Let me know how you get on.

The Quick Share or Nearby Share  are not quite the same. These types of sharing have always been there for a number of years now.

Android beam was simple in that you didn't need to touch any buttons other than to tap the screen once and its done.

For example when your friend sees you playing a game he likes you simply bring the backs of the 2 phones together. The person sharing will touch their screen and immediately your friend's phone will open Google play right away with the game ready for him to install.

Quick Share is OK for sharing files but Android beam was good at sharing media apps as well as files.

@AndrewL The Android Beam is definitely not there anymore, which is a shame. It was simple and almost effortless.

Nope it's not there anymore. I have s9 and the only phones I can use nearby share on are the old ones. I really wish they add the feature back
