What is classed as physical damage that can void warranty? Do scratches count or is it just cracks and dents?

Hi, scratches count as wear & tear, I think its more for hardware failure, motherboard, faulty usb-port, faulty screen, things of that nature.

I believe hard drops, even if there's no external damage won't cover some repairs.
There's a sensor inside the phone that can tell them if that's happened

UPDATE: It may be due to the particular service centre the phone was sent to, but the scratches didn't affect the warranty on the phone
