I recently bought a network unlocked note 20 ultra. SM-N986U. Great phone, but there is no sim card manager showing anywhere. ( yes, I checked under connections etc). Under 'about phone' the Physical Sim card imei shows, but all e-sim information is greyed out, says 'unknown'. Using Android v.13, one UI v.5.1. I thought model SM-N986U software was updated for e-sim capability back in about 2023?  Most importantly, can I get e-sim on this phone? How? Really appreciate your input. Thank you.

Hello 👋 @skydancerusa

Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum Section for UK and Ireland Members.

Looking at https://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note20_ultra_5g- that model is a USA varient which does show as eSim compliant.

Are you in the USA ?

Did you buy from Samsung or a reseller who may have sold a grey import 🤔

If eSim options are not showing as available then No you won't be able to use an eSim with the Network your using.

It maybe your network does not support eSim at all or on your particular contract type.

You could ring Samsung and speak with your network directly to investigate further.

May I suggest to perform a forum search as you may find already existing threads with help and advice within.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

Thank you. I am in the US. Bought from a reseller. Checked online, could not find a thread addressing this particular issue. BTW: what it a 'grey phone' and how could it alter the phone's capabilities? How does the e-sim option get on a phone? Questions to which I would love to get an answer. Thank you.
