I'd suggest to contact the developer directly to let them know of the issue your experiencing after updating.
Apk's unfortunately can bring issues such as bad coding that can cause phone system problems and clashes with other apps along with the potential to house spyware etc.
Paid for apps should also not be downloaded for free via circumventing using apk files.
We should support the developers by paying for paid for apps so that they can create more apps and support the apps they've already created.
