Can't View Hidden Files

Why can I no longer access the hidden files under Android Data? That is essential for these system types and one of the reasons I even use android instead of apple. I have enabled "show hidden files" in settings and changed the view setting from "essentials" to "All" - but in this new system I still cannot access the data files I need to access. This is unacceptable and I'd rather refund this phone and go back to my old one if this is how things are going to be

I also believe x-plore file manager can access hidden data files.
