Took a few astro pics last night to try learning some new capture methods that could be promissing you can do on recent Ultras. Unfortunately it was more hazy than normal on the coast when I got there, If they end up working out when I get a chance to look at them I will pop some on here.

In the meantime here's an example of a single ExpertRAW astro pic from last night with the white balance shifted a tad to limit the warm light pollution in the haze. Not a great pic as it's too bright in that spot but you can faintly see the milky way in the middle peaking through.

Yeah it's poop, the core is way below the horizon this late now but it's been too wet earlier on this year to try unfortunately. It was just a random clear night. I'm trying to find compromise on exposure length without the stars going too blurry as I'm not using a tracker just aligning frames. It's definitely easier just using my mirrorless as I can use a bahtinov mask and the NPF is longer.

If I had a nice heater nearby maybe lol

I'm used to doing star trail ones as you can do them anywhere really.

I think that's not bad
It takes a bit of experimenting to get it just right
Where i am I find shorter exposures are better.
But other places can do the 10 minutes
Love the Expert RAW

Cheers. Yeah that was just the short one. I was more interested in seeing how I could do a post capture stack Vs the phone doing it.

Tempted to try longer exposures as the S24U can be made to do 51sec exposures adding each time not averaging a few shorter exposures over 3 min you can do in ExpertRAW for somewhere with limited rotational movement like the Polaris flare as that would be nuts to stack from a phone.
