I know the 25 just came out and people have said the camera will get better as more updates come out. I thought I would compare my moon images with the 22 vs the 25. I KNOW the 100x is not that great but as you can see with the S22U image (still trying to find one that is closer) This later moon shot seems more clear. I know that the zoom is not the same, probably 78% for the S25 and 58% for the S22...

All I can say is even with AI helping, it is not very good at the moment. I would rather they stick with what was working with the S22,23,24 before trying something new with the 25. I would like it to be excellent right out of the box before they make changes and try to impress me (or you)...

And here are two more of the S22 on a tripod for the lunar eclipse. I shot the entire eclipse on 22 May 2022 with my S22U and it was a warm May evening. About the time we achieved full eclipse, clouds moved in... 😞

You're expecting focus on the moon when you clearly have a foreground subject in focus?

Yeah try doing it again in a similar circumstances without the tree in front.

Your S25 Ultra has software settings (which you can change) which mean the camera focuses on the key elements at the front or the middle.

So not a true comparison.

Due to compression of a long distance shot the photo with the tree did have both in pretty good focus and that was the S22 shot a couple years ago, I used that because the sky was close. I'll see if I can find another similar with no tree taken with the S22... But I liked it for its composition with another element in the foreground to go with the moon... But... I'll see if I can find something else to pair against the S25 image... Picky...

I see. Normally when you compare cameras, you try to compare photos of the same scene at the same time. Trying to do comparisons of photos of 2 completely different scenes at completely different times is close to impossible to give an objective opinion.

I love the S25 Ultra on 100x zoom but essentially you need some steady tripod

Would 100% concur with you here. My hands are far from steady on any zoom lol 😊😊

Also have to add, the more I play with this S25 Ultra the more I find.

Cameras are certainly improved but there is so much in this device that most haven't found yet. 🙏

This has been true of all the 100x zoom since the S20 Ultra. Having owned all of them, I don't feel any difference from any generation except the stability improved somewhat since the S20 Ultra. It does require a steady hand to picture the moon, but ideally a tripod is far easier.

I took these by hand a few weeks ago.20250217_022412_1000003575_1739759055.jpg20250217_022324_1000003574_1739759007.jpg20250217_021717_1000003573_1739758640.jpg
