Galaxy A SeriesSorry to hear that @westy79
Please Check if theirs a factory fitted tpu screen protector on the phone as it might be that which is damaged and not the screen itself ! 🤞
I assume you do not have any form of insurance policy cover for the phone ?
ie A mobile phone policy or Home Contents Insurance Policy and some Banks offer phone cover as a perk of the account.
The best place to get this repaired is a Samsung Experience Store or Samsung Service Centre so that you at least retain the Samsung Limited 2 Years Manufacturing Warranty on the phone and you also know then that an official Samsung replacement Display is used.
Using an unauthorised engineer would render the warranty void.
May I also suggest in investing in a good quality case and perhaps a screen protector when the phone is fixed to help stop this happening again.

Galaxy A SeriesI genuinely feel for you @westy79 😒
My son has just dropped his Note 9 and that's going to cost to repair too.
If you look at the links I added in my first reply there is a section about repair costs.
