A Samsung support guy suggested I do this because my A14 phone keeps not swiping and freezing
But backing up and then reinstalling everything is so, so time-consuming. Will it even work?
Is it worth just limping on, doing lots of soft resets, and hoping a fix will be released soon?
And if it doesn't just buy another cheapish (not Samsung) phone.
I feel they don't really care about those of us with the older, budget-conscious phones....

I don't seem to be able ot get a recovery menu - the phone just restarts in the normal way, even if I do exactly as described above.

Oh, that's encouraging. I will try seeing if the volume buttons work. It won't swipe up from the lock screen sometimes. When the phone is not locked, there are also times when I try to swipe or press home - and instead of the display changing, I get the black screen of death. I think the touch screen not working has also meant not being able to answer the odd call.
Trying to limp on may be the best option. I am sort of getting used to it, though I don't want to have to get used to it.

The message I got after speaking to Samsung support was "thanks for letting us know. We're going to pass this on to our experts. Once they find the root of the problem, we'll get back to you" That was yesterday. I refused a factory reset as the phone worked fine before this update. I read on these forums that the next ONE UI 8 will not be applied to the A14, so I hope this is a fix to the ONE UI 7 and not update which we probably won't get.
