I have been using a Galaxy A54 5G 128GB since August 2023 and recently have come up with 2 (in my opinion) major issues

First issue: Moisture or foreign object detected when charging

Ever since the latest One UI 6.1 update on May 31st, I've been getting constant "Moisture or foreign object detected" notification when I leave fast charging option enabled. At first I thought this was due to build up dust in the usb port, which I have now completely cleaned out but to no avail. Ever since this update, with the cable I was mainly using and fast charging enabled, the charging would act out and constantly start and stop charging again.

After scrolling this forum and others like reddit, I've done following steps:

  1. Clean out USB port (very thoroughly)
  2. Boot in safe mode and try charging from there
    • Result: No warnings and regular speed charging, until phone is rebooted and I start charging from normal mode
  3. Clear USBPort data/cache
  4. Clear batterystats through *#9900# menu (+ reboot)
  5. Clear cache partition through recovery boot menu

Personally this does NOT feel like an actual moisture/ foreign object issue at all, neither does it feel like my USB port is broken because this issue only started occuring right after updating.

Second issue: Phone not (super) fast charging

Recently I have noticed the phone is not fast or super fast charging anymore at all. If i remember vaguely, in the beginnen stages this would still work with the (super) fast charging text appearing for a few seconds. Untill now I have been using my previous phone's charging block and cable (33W Xiaomi fast charger).

To rule out any charger and cable issues (and because I needed a new charger anyway) I've bought the Samsung 65W trio charger and am now using the official samsung cable that was provided with the phone (first time I'm actually using this cable, so it is brand new!). When looking at the charging data through AccuBattery, for all 3, the 65W, 25W and 15W ports, the charging speed does not go above 6W.

What I have tried so far:

  1. Clear USBPort data/cache
  2. Clear batterystats through *#9900# menu (+ reboot)
  3. Clear cache partition through recovery boot menu
  4. Disable and re-enable fast charging slider
  5. Try out many different chargers and cables
    1. Third party chargers (15-25+W)
      • With third party USB-A-to-USB-C cable
    2. Official Samsung 45W charging block (EP-T4510XBEGEU)
      • With Samsung USB-C to USB-C cable (presumably: EP-DX510JBEGEU)
    3. Official Samsung  65W charging block (EP-T6530NBEGEU)
      • With Samsung USB-C to USB-C cable (EP-DN980BWE)
  6. Tried charging in many different battery "states"
    • Completely empty battery
    • Lower than 10% remaining
    • Between 10%-80% remaining
    • Above 80% remaining

A factory reset is NOT an option for me, as I do not have a backup device laying around and I do need my phone for things like authenticators, banking,...

For the same reason, bringing it in to a service center (or in my case returning it for repairs (potentially under warranty) through the vendor) is currently also not an option as I will be leaving on holiday within 2 weeks.

Any help is really appreciated with both issues! Please do NOT recommend any of the above tried resolutions as they had no result in my situation.

Side note: Labeled device is actually A54 5G but that was, for god knows why not an option

Hallo @Members_JgFLcxJ,

Thank you for your message and feedback. You clearly did almost every Trouble Shooting option. Especially that you stil have the "Moisture or foreign object detected" after following the Trouble Shoot a repair would be best. After every repair your phone will be set back to the factory settings.

But since you report you don't want a factory reset and have no time for a repair we recommend to sent an error report via the Samsung Members-app, so that my colleagues of the R&D department will receive it. They can investigate this and when this can be resolved by an update this will be rolled out as soon as possible.

With kind regards,

Ajay
