I'm not sure my phone will work in the USA.

I've been using this phone in Lagos Nigeria for up to 2 years but not sure if it will work when I take it to the USA.

please, will my samsung SM-A047F/DS work when I get to Maryland USA?

What will I need to do to make it work over there

Kindly advice me, to prepare myself for this.

The phone should work on some of the networks there.
But the problem comes with things like getting software updates. You will probably lose those
Samsung pay may not work either with any of the banks in America

That means I won't be able to update software on the phone. 

But I should be able to use the phone for calls and messages if I don't update the software right?

I don't know I have had software update on my phone whilst working overseas but I was on a. UK sim. How it will respond will respond with US sim is unknown

No not at all, backups are a precaution. This is not something I have seen or experienced but I do back up my images to multiple locations cause technology does fail

You should still be able to use the phone even if you don't update it

I normally had the update downloaded and I pause the install
