As you said, it messed up your friend's phone, so don't use it. Logically, a good official cable should avoid this, though. Maybe get a proper Samsung or trusted-brand power bank.

Ik but everyone on the forum just says buy it from Samsung but Samsung charges full it.pi**es me of
