I've just gotten information that the a52 or a52s won't be eligible for one ui 7.0. This is quite sad because I use this phone and I know a lot of others who do. My brother has the A14 and mine performs better than his but his was still listed as eligible for one UI 7.0. why is this the case?

I'm afraid the A52 and A52s are not eligible for Android 15.
When the device was launched, the OS update policy was clear that they would receive updates through to Android 14.
The A14 was released more recently which is why it may qualify.

Why?
The update policy was clear when you bought your device.
The tech inside your device may not be able to run One UI7 whereas newer devices are being designed with longer update policies.

That is down to the buyer.
When you buy a mobile phone, your advised how many updates / years your device will be supported for.
Historically it would be about 2 OS updates and maybe 3 years of security patches.
Some top end devices like the S25 Ultra now getting up to 7 years and some A Series now getting up to 5 or even 6 years.
This is the direction of travel but for older devices, their original updates will remain.
