Message icon disappeares when removing preview

On my new Galaxy A55, the message icon disapeares when I remove the preview from my screen. See video. Not only in WhatsApp, with all apps (mail, messages, messenger etc). 

How can I fix this?

the message icon might disappear for all apps because the notification badge (the icon) is tied to the preview content.
I have the same thing, just never questioned it. To avoid it disappearing I simply dont swipe away the notification if I want to keep it at

Do you have activated floating notifications? Depending on how notifications are activated is how they will work.
