Galaxy A72 battery usage problem

Over the past 2 or 3 days my A72 has started to use around 50% battery in 6hrs after being charged to 100% over night. It also shows a notification that its charging with x hours until full even when the charging cable is disconnected and gets quite hot while being unused and not charging.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Go to the support section of this app and run device diagnostics.

Since your device it a little old and you charge to 100% each night, I think your battery might have degraded. The diagnostic should say if that's right or not

 Diagnostics show the battery status as normal, life: good, capacity 5000mAh, 3d 11h left at 65%

First, turn off Auto Blocker then follow these instructions EXACTLY as written

Using the Samsung Phone App (not the Google one)

Dial *#9900# then scroll down to battery stats reset. Click then restart your phone.

Turn Auto Blocker back on

Restart device

Wait 14 days for battery optimisation to complete.
