Add a user-facing setting to permanently disable the camera shutter sound.
I live in a country where there is no legal requirement for a shutter sound. For everyday use (private photos, quieter environments, meetings, etc.) the mandatory or hard-to-silence shutter noise is intrusive. Currently I must use workarounds—silent mode, muting system sounds via Routines, lowering volume before every photo etc.—which are clumsy, inconsistent, and poor UX. If the phone already allows these workarounds, please provide a clear, official toggle in Camera settings so users can choose their preferred behavior.
Proposed implementation ideas:
Camera settings → “Shutter sound” toggle (On / Off)
Respect user choice persistently across reboots and camera updates
Thanks for considering this improvement — it would make daily photography much more practical.

Thanks — I’m aware of that workaround as I already mentioned it in my post. The point of my request is that users shouldn’t have to rely on routines or silent mode every single time. A simple toggle in the Camera settings would be a much cleaner and more reliable solution, especially in countries where the shutter sound isn’t legally required.

With respect, that logic is flawed.
If the sound can be already bypassed simply by putting the phone on Silent Mode (as I mentioned), it clearly isn't an effective deterrent for the behavior you're describing. This won't stop a single creep. The only thing this forced sound achieves is a poor user experience for regular users in quiet environments.

Yes, thank you. I did that as well, but I think it helps to gain support for the idea from others, and perhaps get some improvement suggestions.
