If its under 14 days you should just be able to do a standard return

I set the phone aside as a birthday present for my wife so we didn't discover the problem for 4 months until her birthday came around.  Traded in my old Samsung and used my Samsung birthday discount back in May to buy the phone.

Ah. Then approaching that is going to be hard. I understand your situation, but those return policies are in place to check if it's correct.

The only thing I can imagine is trying to escalate it, or even maybe pushing towards consumer rights-

Then you should be able to obtain the standard device assuming there is no mention of the enterprise device being provided and you have all the document/emails/invoice
