A70 screen will not dim/USB connection.

Hey,

I've noticed a problem with my A70 regarding trying to dim the screen when locking manually or expecting it to lock after screen timeout.

Basically, my phone won't sleep, at least not whilst charging. I spent a good while playing around with settings on my phone, such as timeout and lock screen settings. I also powered off the device but no luck.

After trying to figure out the problem further I discovered that the notification tray is being constantly updated every few seconds swapping between "Android system USB connector connected" and "Android system USB connector disconnected". So presumably this is what is keeping the phone awake as it thinks it is being constantly connected and disconnected from source USB source. I cleaned out the USB port but it was pretty clean to begin with. I'm not getting any notifications regarding any moisture detection.

The A70 charges just fine (though sometimes there is a slight delay to it recognising being plugged in) and it seems that the USB tethering interface is working well as I can use the remote debugging feature in Google Chrome (for web development purposes) just fine. As far as I can tell, there are no actual issues with the USB port - it functions as I would expect.

The A70 was last updated on the 14th August to "Security Patch level: 1 July 2019" and looking over the log of updates I see that "The charger/USB port's moisture detection algorithm has been improved" - so someone somewhere has been looking at this feature and I doubt it coincidence that my device has just developed a fault, given that I've not had it anywhere near moisture or excessive dirt.. and the port still actually works!

I've also tried Safe Mode but the issue persists. Also, if I power the device off, then plug it into the wall, power it on, the notification issue stops... until I unplug it/switch off the wall socket - then it comes back again.

Anyone else having similar problems?

I posted a few pages back about the same problem on my A70.

I tried many of the fixes suggested by people on here but none worked unfortunately.

I risked putting a sharp needle into the USB port to have a bit scratch about and see if I could clean anything. It worked until I put the changing cable in again. That made me think it was one of the contacts on the charge cable or phone's USB port. I flipped the charge cable around so I've plugged the end I was using in the phone into the charge block and I'm now using the charge block and in my phone. It has been working ok for a week now, fingers crossed.

Someone said a few pages back about waiting it out. Its been a few days now since i was tearing my hair out about it and now its disappeared :face-with-tears-of-joy: my only issue now is when my battery hits 15% the "low battery" message flashes for a nano second creating havoc with my lower screen/fingerprint locking and keeps the screen lit. But at least 85% of my battery is now being left alone woohoo!

This is so frustrating. I managed to stop this occurring issue for few hours, however it is back again 😔. I'm gaving up at this stage. I will have to bring the phone to samsung repair center for repair.

Kindly go to the service center before there is further damage to the phone. I took mine to the service center, they changed the charging point and it's fine and running smooth. Waiting for long will worsen the device.

Here in India it was replaced for free. Why should they charge for it when the phone is under warranty?

Nothing will work unless you get the charging point replaced at the service center.

For how long will one work on tricks, you have paid for the phone and it is under warranty, take it to the ***** service center to get it replaced. If they say that it is the customer's fault then show them this chat thread.

Take the phone to the nearest Samsung Service center and ask them to change the charging port, the issue can be resolved then only. Tricks won't work, it is like Voldemort which will always come back.
