A56 SIM does not work after update

Since the last update (most notably, but maybe even before, the SIM does not work. But it did before. New phone in operation for 4 days, restarted several time after System update, PIN entered correctly. Yesterday  until afternoon, I could still receive and make calls, after the update (I think) and ever since: No incoming or outgoing calls through the SIM. Error message:"Not registered to network". No SMS either. Took the SIM out, wiped it with soft cotton cloth, put it back in. It gets recognised as being inserted in the settings/SIM Manager but no functionality.  Allegedly no mal functionality on the side of the radio network service provider (German O2) What gives?

Settings, connections, mobile networks, network operators. Turn off auto, manually select your network, might help.

Reset MOBILE network settings

You won't lose data but your device will get new APNs automatically

Have you tried a different sim, different network?

Go back to who you bought phone from.

You said german O2 but not where you are trying to usd it. Try turn on roaming.
