Since the update on 8.6 21 any files I download on chrome or have previously downloaded 'cannot be opened as this file is corrupted'.  This message occurs whether I'm attempting to open with any app. Pdf readers and Epson printer app show the same message.

This was not an issue until after the aforementioned update. Have contacted Samsung Live chat and followed the trouble shooting steps: cleared cache, cleared browsing history, restarted, checked the latest software was installed, but this has still not solved the issue. Was advised to reset to factory settings but would really rather not.

Is it possible to get the last update removed and the software rolled back so things actually work again?

Sadly it's not possible to roll back to previous update

You could try a chrome reset

Reset Chrome for Android to default settings (Step-by-Step Guide)

Open your device's “Settings” menu, then tap on “Apps” ...Find and tap on the Chrome app. ...Tap “Storage”. ...Tap “Manage Space”. ...Tap “Clear all data”. ...Confirm by tapping “Ok”.
