I recently replaced my Galaxy A14 5G with the A16 model. On my A14 I was able to add my gmail account to Google. However, when I tried to add it to the A16 it wouldn’t accept it, saying that email address was already taken, and that I had to set up a gmail with a new username and password – which I did. However, I would still like to add my old, and normal, gmail account so would be grateful if anyone could show me how to it. Many thanks.

I spent the afternoon looking around my phone and have found out how to do it. So problem solved. Thank you.

You should be looking to login in to your Google account when setting up the phone. Looks like you've probably clicked on sign up not login.

I'm not sure if I clicked the wrong option, or if I have then how to put it right. Please can you advise how to do that? Many thanks.

Try going into settings, accounts then manage accounts. Click on your Google account and you should be able to remove it. Then add your original account.

I got as far as finding accounts and google email, but it seems I'd have to delete the one I had to set up when I first set up the phone, and then try to add my original one that's on my desktop. However, if I do that I'm afraid I might loose the new one and not be able to get it back. I seem to remember that origianlly, when setting up, it asked me for my account and when I put it in that was when it told me that an account in that name already exists and I'd have to have a new, different, one.
