Despite being a new (December 2020) offering from Samsung, the A12 only supports IEEE 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz It doesn't support - IEEE 802.11 n/ac 5GHz

It really feels like Samsung cheaped out on the Network Interface Card.

Nobody expects to buy a newly issued device with slow 2.4 GHz wifi

Well, it's an entry level phone so don't expect it to be like more expensive devices.

Plenty of entry-level phones have decent network interfaces

I was going to buy the A12 but, Since I can get 5Hgz on my Galaxy JPrime,  I guess I will just keep rocking that until they figure things out. She's an oldie but a goodie :winking-face:

Nowadays, the chips are perfectly capable of doing 2.4GHz 40MHz wide channel WiFi N, however they (Samsung) evidently are not enabling it on purpose, or due to negligence. Same deal is with Xaiomi. So you end up buying a $1000 phone.

PS: My even cheaper Huawei Y5II (Android 5) from 2016 can do better than this, with no problems whatsoever.

And yet for some reason the A12 supports 5ghz via mobile hotspot. You can connect other devices to it at 5ghz but you cannot connect the a12 to a 5ghz network, don't figure.
