Do we need this label at the bottom of the drawer? Would cleaner to remove it as it kinda doesn't serve a purpose here and just distracts from your app icons.

i think this is temporary only in the beta version. i would like to see an extra option about placing the search bar, along with the currently available options of sorting (custom and alphabetical)

Couldn't agree more. Search at the bottom is mental. You just swiped up. And then have to go back down.
