The new sliders just look to bulky. They don't look like something you'd get on a flagship device. They are huge, I had no problem with the one ui 8.5 ones to be honest.

They are indeed a bit too tall, and when you have a media playing or casting, it pushes the other tiles outside the screen which is annoying.
