Hi,

I have two Samsung monitors both ls24r650fduxen are the same. Both monitors are connected to my MacMini M1 through the HDMI port on both monitors. It is working perfectly together. Now, I want to connect a second source (Dell laptop) to one of the monitors and switch back and forth if needed using the source button on my monitor. For some reason, a second source is not recognized by the monitor nor is it recognized by Dell laptop through DP-to-HDMI connection. What I'm I missing here? Is it even possible to connect multiple computers to one monitor?

Cheers, Dino

Hi @DinoNahumury,

Does the monitor work when you use the other port with the Dell laptop? So no other devices attached.

@bruceh tried a few options actually:

1. Dell laptop connected via HDMI is working.
2. Dell laptop connected via DisplayPort is not working as for now with the cables I have. I ordered a brandnew cable ETA tomorrow. So I can retry.

I’ll have to get back to you on that one.

@BruceH so I tried the following:

  1. Dell laptop connected via HDMI is working.
  2. Dell laptop connected via DisplayPort is not working as for now with the cables I have. *UPDATE: received a brand new cable and stil is not working. HDMI to HDMI connection is working however once Display Port is involved on way or the other than the fun is over. Also tried using a hub (DELL D6000).

So, in conclusion. As for now Im not able to connect two devices on one screen.

Then I assume it's not possible indeed. Perhaps you could try to switch the devices and/or test with other PC's.

@BruceH I do wonder what the purpose is of having displayport on my monitors since Im not able to use them.

So if I understand correctly, it also doesn't work when you connect just one PC through the displayport?
