T7 SSD external drive has to be force ejected on my iMac

Hi there, I have a new Samsung External Drive T7 plugged into my iMac 2017 with OS Catalina 10.15.7. It will not allow me to eject and each time I'm having to force eject when I close down the computer. I have already tried closing all applications, logging out and logging in, relaunching the finder. None of these solutions work. Could you advise me what to do to be able to eject the disc properly, as I'm concerned I may damage the files or disc if I continue force ejecting in this way.

I just plugged the drive in, I didn't install the software or drivers.

I have the same problem with my iMac M3...all my other drives eject fine, but not the T7
