Good morning,

I've enabled bitlocker on my boot ssd, which is a 500GB Samsung 980 (non-pro) and it's performance has dropped substantially.

As you can see in the below picture, sequential read has nearly halved and sequential write has taken a hit as well.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Just wanting to check that this is normal.

Kind regards.

It's normal and the drive has hardware encryption anyway so you don't need to use bitlocker as well

I have this device and I have exactly the same problem with bitlocker
Before I encrypt I read a lot about bitlocker and its effect on nvme ssd and most of them say little effect and not noticeable and I saw tests with nvme 970 and 960 and the pass was really little
But it seems that bitlocker with nvme ssd 980 differs, and the most likely here is that the problem may lie in the DRAM-less or something else that we do not know
I tried to go with device encryption despite security warnings that it may not be good, but I could not encrypt devices for unknown reasons
I hope Samsung clarifies some mysterious things about this
