I have Alexa running on my soundbar. If I have the soundbar off, it will wake the soundbar in order to respond. I don't need the soundbar to respond to Alexa commands when I have the soundbar off - it is mostly for redundancy. This also emits a rather loud tone indicating it can hear me. Is there any way to disable saying "Alexa" from waking the soundbar?

You cannot change the soundbar wake-word. Unlike Echo devices, this isn’t an option on the soundbar. Here’s your solution:
In the SmartThings app, select your soundbar to open its configuration options. At the bottom of the SmartThings soundbar configuration screen are two options: (1) Control (2) Services. Control is the default screen. Select Services
In the Services options, locate and select Voice Assistant Settings
Set the Voice Assistant to Bixby
Your soundbar will no longer respond to the word “Alexa.”
Tested this with a Samsung Q990C soundbar and the SmartThings skill enabled in the Alexa app. TV still responds to Alexa commands such as “Alexa, Samsung TV off,” but soundbar no longer wakes with any of the Echo device wake-words. I still have the Spotify skill enabled in Alexa and can still select the soundbar as a preferred speaker. Only difference is the soundbar doesn’t go off doing its own thing anytime someone utters “Alexa.”
