How to setup ms660 soundbar with a tv without ARC

I wonder

I have a Panasonic Plasma screen with Viera. I see Samsung has ARC, but my tv doesn't have that. So I read that it would work either way. But I am not getting any sound through from my tv. I've tried D.IN and it does communicate to some extent with Viera, but no sound. I tried choosing HDMI, but still, no sound. I've read every post around soon..but no solution comes up. I have a PLaystation 4 and a GET box. But they only have 1 hdmi slot. 

Do I need a splitter or switch? 

Shouldn't this work..I mean...I have the soundbar connected through an hdmi cable..I just don't understand how that doesn't work...it's just sound. Please help me?
