On my device (S23 Ultra), after the August update, Gemini automatically launches after the phone has been locked for a few minutes. This happens whether I unlock from Always-On Display or the lock screen.
Details:
If Gemini is enabled, it forcibly opens on unlock even if I never asked for it.
This overrides my last-used app and disrupts workflow.
The only workaround is to completely disable Gemini, which defeats the purpose of its integration.
Impact:
This feels like the feature is being pushed too aggressively. Instead of encouraging users to try Gemini, it frustrates them into disabling it altogether. That’s counterproductive for adoption and gives a poor user experience.
Request:
Please investigate and allow Gemini to launch only when explicitly triggered by the user (e.g., side key, swipe, or voice command), not automatically on unlock.
