So the pain of upgrading a siblings iPhone 16 to IOS18.2 touted as the full AI UK Monty, I thought let's give it a whirl maybe things are on the up ...

After an update that seemed to take forever, reading and screen shotting the changelog to ensure I don't miss something, I quickly came to the conclusion again that Apple AI truly sucks, it's barely noticeable, a mystery to find and use and then to discover its half baked ChatGPT add is only 6 odd free searches a day, then I think it's £10 or £15 a month.

I will be settting up another iPhone 16 soon and will spend longer than a few hours, but to be honest without HUGE improvements it is shockingly bad.

Come the next Samsung Unpacked touted to be another big AI step, I think more Apple customers will ditch their iPhones for Samsung or other AI ready devices.

Lastly someone like Apple letting ChatGPT take the LLM lead and control, is clearly a sign Apple is sadly loosing that Jobs innovation.

Anonymised data itself is a major and easy revenue stream before AI and even more so with AI.

My son is just about to buy an IPhone 16 pro.

I know... I know... I have tried my hardest to convince otherwise, but sadly to no avail.

Part of growing up is to learn from your mistakes... he is 19 and hopefully he will see light with Android in the future.

I do have one side of my extended family that prefer the fruit. I avoid the conversations about tech these days, but they do seem to be wowed when I arrive with some new buds or a new watch. Maybe the S25u in a few weeks 🤔

I have to be careful not to be too critical of our competition 😂

Don't go for the 16. The Pro offers a little more, we had the same predicament when gifting one to a siblings.

Yeah he has the 16pro in mind. He currently has the base model iPhone 11 so the upgrade across 5 generations and with the pro grade cameras will be a good upgrade for him.

I am also trying to build up his credentials for credit history, so there are some pretty good contract deals right now with an upfront fee and fairly good monthly payment.

Obviously deals on apple products are few, so we are browsing around the current deals.

Yeah Apple deals are none existent though check out ID Mobile, it's the 16 though, think £29 a month ...

My sister went from an iPhone 12, I have asked a few times, she keeps responding no difference, even the AI.

The ID mobile deal is the one we are looking at for the pro16. It is £299 upfront with £29.99 for 24 months. Calculated just over £1k, so effectively the 24 months unlimited usage is virtually free when considered against just buying the phone outright.

The poor lad needs guidance, support and some serious help.

An 🍏 a day is only good for avoiding the dentist. Everything else should be avoided 🤣🤣

Yeah, it is strange as my daughter had an iPhone early on, and decided she preferred samsung android, and my son went the other way and influenced by his uncle.

The first phones I got for them were Samsung J5 phones when teenagers, but they have gone down different paths.

I even offered my S23ultra to my son for free next month when I consider the S25u... but he isn't interested.

My daughter on the other hand would like my ultra... so that may be the way we progress. She gives me her s23 base to trade in ... I give her my ultra.

Let's see how excited I get about the S25u in a few weeks 😂
