UHD colour setting seems to turn itself off (on Sky)

I’ve just signed up for Sky Sports UHD (through Virgin). The colour looks dull/washed out until I turn the UHD colour setting on on my TV, and then it looks fine. But when I switch between channels, such as from HD to UHD, the colour goes back to being dull, even though the setting is still on. Any ideas what’s going on?

Hi @jamesl1989

Could we take the full model code and current software version of your TV please? Go to Home > Settings > Support > About This TV.

Thanks for getting back to us, @jamesl1989. For clarity, is this issue only happening on Sky and (if so) have you checked with Sky's Support Team to see if anything else needs to be configured within its settings?

Hi Paul. I’m with Virgin, and it seems to happen on other UHD channels when I switch off them. I had a look at the Virgin settings and there were no specific settings, and others didnt make a difference. It seems to be the TV as when I switch the setting on and off it works. Thanks

Ah, I see, thanks. It might be a good idea to utilise Samsung Remote Support, so that the TV & AV Product Specialists can take a more granular look at this for you, @jamesl1989:

Please let us know when you get this matter clarified and resolved.

There is an issue with Samsung TVs displaying HLG HDR UHD via Sky. I have a Samsung S90C (1310 firmware) with Sky Q. All Sky UHD HDR content is washed out and dull.

Didn't have any issue with same Sky Q box and LG OLED TV.

Thanks. I’ve seen on other forums that a number of TVs have this issue, ie HLG looks dull. Does anyone know what the UHD setting on Samsung TVs actually does? Seems weird that it works until you change anything (eg skip backwards/forwards, change channel). Doesn’t seem to be a way to turn off HLG on Samsung TVs, or on the Virgin box, unless I’m missing it..
